“This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you. For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.” -2 Timothy 1:6-7
God gave us a Spirit of power and love and self-control, so that we might exercise power, and love, and self-control. Why would we live in fear, when we have the Spirit of God? Yet we do. What is our problem? Our problem is disobedience. All fear must flee before those who walk in God’s will. “The righteous are bold as a lion” (Proverbs 28:1). This doesn’t mean perfection, “for the righteous falls seven times and rises again, but the wicked stumble in times of calamity” (Proverbs 24:16). What this means is that we don’t give up. It doesn’t matter what our failures are, we must get up. The problem arises when we get down and stay down. We never have to. Could death keep Jesus in the grave? No! But the same Spirit that raised Jesus from the grave lives in us and will also raise us up in power. What do we have to do? Trust and obey and let the world behold the glory of our God. There’s no reason to wait. Arise in the name of Jesus!
